Nokia7250i Write your own review for this handset Date 2003-11-03 12:05:47 Rating 9 The Nokia 7250i is one of the most popular imaging phones and is being pushed hard by the operators in the run up to Christmas, many operators are giving it away free with a contract. It joins the Nokia Series 40 product range and like the 7210 includes an FM Radio. We picked one up at Carphone Warehouse for £300.00 (without a contract) to review on your behalf, I've spent just over a week using the phone and I'll not be giving it back in a hurry. With Radio, Camera, Java, Ployphonic Ringtones, Colour Screen, XHTML Browsing, and MMS there isn't much more I could want from a phone.
This is not a large phone, next to other phones in the Nokia Series 40 product range it isn't much bigger at all. A little thicker and longer but really not much in it. Unlike the 7650 and 3650 this will fit nicely into your pocket which isn't bad for a phone that packs an integrated camera and FM radio. The key layout is a little unusual, the number keys are kind of joined together for example the 2 and 5 are one button, press the top of the button for 2 and bottom for 5, and the number buttons are spread out using almost the full width of the phone. It took a few minuted to get used to them but now I really like them. The directional keypad I really like, it feels very definate and is easy to use, many of the other Series 40 devices suffer from users accidently pressing the red key while playing games thus ending the game which can be very frustrating. Although this can still happen with the 7250i I've found it to be much less likely. It doesn't look as sleek as the Nokia 6100 but the 6100 doesn't pack in a camera and radio. The camera is fully integrated so no need to carry around a snap on extra as with many camera phones of this size. The lens is on the back with nothing to protect it which I think is a design fault. I carry mine around in a pocket with some change and car keys jangling around (I know I shouldn't but men don't carry around handbags as a rule). The lens hasn't been scratched yet but I've only had the phone for just over a week. It takes 10 key presses to get to the camera by my calculations, but after reading the instructions in more detail you can press the up arrow in standby mode to get there immediately so you won't miss that picture of the UFO or Nessie. As for the quality of the camera, well I was quite impressed. The difference in quality between a typical digital camera and a camera-phone is vast but from all the camera phones I've tested this one seems the best so far. The radio is just the same as the 7210 version, it needs the earpiece attachment which is a pain but will play through the headphones or speaker. The colour screen is perfect on the device I tested for still images, moving images do suffer from a little motion blur but this is would only show when playing games and even then it's not too bad. You can link each of your contacts to a picture which will display when they call. The battery life has been good, and the infra red worked well with the Nokia PC Suite although I had to reduce the speed of my IR port for it to work which wasn't in any of the Nokia instructions. Features of the Nokia 7250i include: WAP 1.2.1 (GPRS, CSD)
